MEGADETH Drummer Gets A 'Small But Amazing Dose' Of What NYC has To Offer
September 27, 2007MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's web site:
"Had a great time/show last night in New York, but the thing that sucks for me is that we never have a day off in New York to fully absorb and see so many things that the city has to offer. Though I did get a very small but amazing dose right after the show...
"My Vic Firth artist rep (and great friend) Marco Soccoli (who is the most Italian-Italian of the face of the earth, which is awesome) took myself, Glen [Drover, guitar], our good friend Chris Caffery [SAVATAGE, TRANS SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA] and Robbie Gonzalez (former Al Di Meola drummer) to an AMAZING restaurant called Otto's off 5th St., and let me tell you, that I have never had better food in my life!!!! For dessert, Marco informed us that we HAD to try this olive oil ice cream, and after one minute of blank staring, we agreed to give it a wack — best ice cream I have ever had (I know it sounds insane, but it was sssssssoooooo good).
"Apart from that, it was so great to be in New York with great friends just hanging out and laughing so hard our faces hurt. Thanks, Marco!
"Today brings a well-needed day off, to which I am about to go to the biggest casino in the world to make back the money I lost in Las Vegas. Wish me luck!"
